Publicity can come from anywhere, and in many different forms. It can be as simple as having a letter published in the editorial column of your local paper, or as dynamic as having a front-page article with your name splashed across the headlines. But a successful publicity campaign is harder than you may think. It takes huge effort on your part to get your business noticed by the media.

So, why bother? Is publicity really that important? Yes, yes … a thousand times, yes! The effectiveness of your publicity campaign will ultimately determine the success of your business. Publicity increases your sales without the outrageous cost of advertising. It adds credibility to your message and develops name recognition in your field. Essentially, publicity makes you stand out, above all the other businesses, to the buying public.

Now, you don’t have to be a public relations expert to maximize the results of your publicity campaign. Use the following trade secrets to increase your visibility and sell more of your product or service:

1. Get to Know Your Audience

According to a survey conducted by Jericho Communications, the typical Fortune 1000 CEO is more likely to have watched The Simpsons than to have watched all three presidential debates. So, what does this mean for your publicity? Simple, it means that you can’t make assumptions about your audience.

Understanding your audience and what appeals to them is important if you want to get noticed. Keep in mind that you have a variety of different tastes that go beyond your work, and so does everyone else. Figure out what magazines your audience reads and what shows they watch, then you read and watch the same things.

2. Create News

By familiarizing yourself with popular publications within your audience, you should gain an understanding of what issues are important to them and what interests them. Understand what they find newsworthy, and develop your publicity around these issues. Tie your topic to current events and target your audience directly when you pitch stories.

For example, if your business focuses on home organization, you can reach a business audience for “Clean Off Your Desk Day.” Or, if you help businesses implement time management strategies in the workplace, you can reach an at-home audience with an article on how to tackle the home improvements you started, but never completed. Don’t be afraid to stretch the boundaries of your topic. And remember, create news that interests your audience, not that interests you.

3. Send Press Releases

Press releases are the easiest and quickest ways to advertise to a large audience, and they inform the media that you have something to offer. Press releases are also a good method for getting your product or service reviewed in publications. Watch the breaking news, and if something ties to your business, send a press release to the newspapers, radio and television shows, and magazines offering your take as an expert to interview about the situation.

Give your press releases a professional look by using a letterhead. Keep them short (two pages maximum), and double space if possible. Direct it to a specific reporter or editor to make sure it doesn’t get lost in the stacks, and always use a slant aimed at the publication’s or show’s audience. And perhaps most important, don’t forget your contact information.

4. Develop a Winning Media Kit

As you approach the different media outlets, you’ll need to send them a media kit. Think of your media kit as your resume; it tells the media professionals about you and your business. A professional media kit should include your short bio, a summary of your product or service, and your contact information. Also include sample questions about your topic that the writer or host can use during the interview. Put all this information together in a professional folder, and present it to media professionals before interviews.

5. Solve Your Contact’s Problems

When it comes to stories, each reporter and producer has a unique personality and unique needs. If you can figure out what they want, you make their job much easier. And when you make a media professional’s job easier, they will come back to you for more quotes and more interviews. So ask them what other stories they’re working on, and for what other publications they write. Ask how you can help them and what other topics they’d like to see. Let the reporter, editor, or producer know that you care about their stories and their audience because in the end, you’ll both look good.

Establish working relationships with media professionals and develop strong contacts for increased publicity. Learn everything you can about the show or publication, and about their competition, so you can really make them shine.

6. Give a Great Interview

Do you know what it’s like to talk to a boring person? They drone on for hours about topics that don’t interest you, and all you can think about is getting rid of them. Keep this in mind when you talk to the media, because if you’re boring, they won’t want to talk with you ever again. But if you have energy and keep your responses on the topic, you’ll keep the media professionals interested.

Before the interview, take time to prepare three to five main points you’d like to cover. Then if the conversation goes astray, you can revert back to these points with ease. Also, don’t be pushy about what you want. They may or may not have room in their story to mention your product or service. But if you ask nicely, you’ll have a better chance of getting it mentioned.

7. Follow up

Once you’ve established contact with media professionals, maintain the relationships and follow up for more exposure. Avoid nagging with “did you decide yet” calls, but do ask when the article will be published or when the show will air. Maybe you can offer a new bit of information in your follow-up call. And remember to reintroduce yourself, because reporters and producers talk to many different people every day.

Another important aspect of follow-up and common courtesy is a thank-you note. These added touches of consideration let the media professionals know that you appreciate them and make them want to work with you again in the future.

Use the Public Relations Secrets to Success

A successful publicity campaign is hard work, but it doesn’t have to be excruciating. When you understand your readers and their interests, then target the publications and shows with a slant directed to the needs of their audience, you position yourself for maximum exposure. By using a professional approach and media kit, the media will take notice. Develop strong working relationships with media professionals, and you will get more quotes and interviews. Give a great interview, then follow-up with the reporter or producer to show your enthusiasm.

Publicity is the key to increasing your bottom line. Now you don’t have to be a public relations pro to make the most of your media exposure. With these seven secrets, you can maximize your public relations success and secure free publicity for your product or service.

The economic downturn is having a dramatic impact on the economy and no one is left untouched. We are seeing small to big businesses closing their doors and calling it quits. Even celebrities and their luxury brands are affected.

Most businesses are wondering how to increase profit earnings when people are simply not spending. The solution to get people to spend money is to get people excited about a brand, product, or service. This involves putting together a PR campaign that offers consumers something of value.

How you communicate with your target audience will determine the success factors of your brand’s image. When consumers are strapped for cash perception of a brand plays a vital role when making selections or even recommendations. People will not make wasteful purchases and you have to give them a reason to spend their hard earned money.

Public relations are how you communicate with the public. A brand’s image is received by public opinion and concept. Using media outlets such as radio, Internet, newspapers, magazines, blogs, etc helps to strengthen brand awareness. Using PR, also known as public relations can help to influence perception.

Here are some tips to help you get some free publicity by using PR, public relations practices to make your brand hot during slow economic times.

1. Press Release Promotions - Offer specials through press release announcements.

2. Word of Mouth Promotions - Give promotional bonuses for referrals.

3. Give-A-Way Promotions - Attract attention through free offerings.

4. Article Branding Promotions - Provide offerings through article promotions.

The key point to consider is that consumers are looking for a cost break when funds are limited. It will be very necessary to use media resources that are a direct fit with the target audience you would like to connect with. This will allow your brand awareness to increase and for you to receive free publicity for your promotions.

Press releases are the single most important tool in PR. In this article I will explain why press releases are so useful and when they should be sent out.

The key aim of public relations is to get information about your (or your client’s) business into the media in the form of articles or news stories. This can be a very effective way of publicizing a business, as people are often more inclined to believe what they read in a news story than in a paid-for advert.

The main way to achieve news coverage is by sending out a press release. This is a short news story you hope will be published by a paper or magazine, or prompt one of their reporters to write an article based on it.

Press releases must contain something newsworthy, as newspapers will not simply print a piece saying how wonderful a business is. Nevertheless, local papers in particular are often under-staffed and welcome stories they can use, even if the news they contain is not particularly earth-shattering. A few events that might justify a press release include:

    * the opening of a new business
* winning a big order
* moving to new premises
* winning a prize or award
* celebrating an anniversary
* offering a new service
* developing a new product
* sponsoring a local sports team
* assisting a charity or charitable appeal
* special offers, events, and so on

Your press release should start with an attention-grabbing headline. After this comes the body of the release, where you set out the news story you want to publicize. This should be double-spaced, i.e. written with alternating ‘empty’ lines. The release should conclude with a phone number and email address which the reporter or editor can use to request more information.

A press release should NOT be written in the same way as an advert. The idea is to achieve coverage in the news pages, so you should try to imitate the concise, factual style used by newspaper reporters. Your aim should be to produce a story or article that could be used by the editor without requiring any changes. If your press release is published more or less as you wrote it, you can congratulate yourself on a job well done!

There are quite a few cuts of diamonds to select from. The cut basically relates to the shape that the diamond is cut into, except if you are in the diamond or jewelry field, simply this shape has a great affect on much the diamond glitters.

The most favorite cuts are pear, heart, marquise, oval, princess, round, trillion, and emerald cuts. The shape has an affect on the extent the diamond sparkles, but the true cutting itself, when the diamond cutter really cuts the diamond into a specific shape, also counts a great deal. If the diamond is badly cut, it will suffer
its sparkle.

In the diamond business the cut of a diamond does not relate to its shape at all. On the contrary, this is a reference point to the stone’s brilliance, depth, width, durability, clarity, and other facets of the diamond. General cutting difficulties are a missing or off center culet, not properly aligned, a diamond that is too thick or too thin, crackings, or broken culets.

If looking for a diamond, you should choose the shape that you care for the best, but then consider several assorted diamonds of that shape to locate the one with the best cut, the diamond that sparkles best, in all kinds of lighting.

Diamonds Are Cut How

In their most natural configuration, diamonds are, well, quite unattractive. They have no splendor or radiance,and in fact, they look like nothing but broken glass. A diamond has to be cut, and then made shiny and smooth before it really becomes a thing of beauty.

Diamonds are cut with saws, into round forms. From the rounded shape, other shapes perhaps will be cut, such as heart shapes, but the shape is less significant than the caliber of the cutting that is being performed. When the diamond is badly cut, it will lose light, and it will not glitter and shine very well. Every surface of the diamond must be cautiously cut into the geometrical shapes that permit the diamond to sparkle and glow, then the whole diamond is cut into a particular shape, like an emerald cut or a princess cut diamond.

As soon as the cut is finished, the diamond is put into a dop, which looks like a cup with another diamond, only a diamond is strong enough to polish the edges of another diamond. As soon as the diamond has been cut and shaped, and had the edges polished in the dop, it is smoothed on a scaif or a diamond polishing wheel.

A diamond is a girl’s best friend! It is a beauty and unique nature makes it easy to admire. Diamond purchasing is a great task and an exciting pleasure. There are various types of diamonds so when buying real diamonds, one should learn about fake diamonds so that you will be able to distinguish between the fake vs. real diamond. Nowadays the best fake diamond is in great demand. Here are some of the simple solutions or the methods that will enable you to find out the difference between the fake vs. real diamond. The best way to know about the precious diamond is to acquire knowledge from a diamond professional. If possible take the diamond along with you to the shop and get all the details from the jeweler. The best fake diamond looks so similar to the real diamond that even a professional diamond jeweler may get confused and may have hard time to finding out whether it is a fake or the real diamond. In case you are not satisfied with the views regarding the real diamond from the professional, here is a way to find out which is a real diamond and which is a fake diamond.

The first method is to check the diamond with the help of diamond tester as it will help you to differentiate between real diamond and best fake diamond. It is an electronic tester that can check all the diamonds except the moissanite stone for which the diamond tester is not reliable. The best fake diamond is the cubic zirconia and the weight of this diamond is around 50% more than a real diamond of the same size and shape. This weighing test also can find out the difference between fake vs. real diamond.

Another method for checking the best fake diamond is the transparency test in which the diamond is placed up side down on the news paper and if the written matter from the newspaper is legible then be sure that the diamond is not the real one and it can be a best fake diamond. One of the disadvantages of this method is that some of the stones may appear to be a real diamond due its fine cutting. In this case, one needs to be sure about the cutting methods of the stones. This method is very common and enables you to find the real diamond from the best fake diamond.

The third method that helps you to differentiate between fake vs. real diamond is the fog test. Hold the stone or the diamond and blow some air from your mouth on to the stone, if the fog appears on the stone and stays there for next few seconds then it shows that the stone is a best fake diamond because in case of a real diamond, the heat disappears instantly. The oily layers and dirt on the stone might create some problems to differentiate fake vs. real diamond. Thus, before carrying out a test for best fake diamond, clean its surface properly.

The ultra violet test is another method that will enable you to find out the real diamond from the best fake diamond. The real diamond projects blue color light if put under the ultra violet light or the black color. There are two options, if the blue light does not appear, it can be best fake diamond or can be a high quality diamond.

All of the above tests can satisfy all the test conditions to differentiate between a best fake diamond and the real diamond.

A Diamond is a mineral made of carbon that is crystallized. In fact a diamond is more than 99.95% pure carbon. The remaining 0.05 percent of the elements often influences the crystal’s color and shape. The diamond is also by far the hardest natural substance known to man. Diamonds form between 75 and 120 miles below the earth’s surface. Only at these great depths do the necessary temperature and pressure exist to form this unique gem. Diamonds were delivered to the surface by volcanic eruptions. These eruptions occurred over 50 million years ago. Geologists believe that the first delivery occurred more than 2.5 billion years ago. After reaching the surface, some diamonds settled back into their volcanic pipes. Other diamonds were washed hundreds of miles away by floods and rivers. Some diamonds reached the oceans and were washed back onto the beach. The first diamond mines were discovered in India before 500 BC. India has been the world’s major supplier of diamonds for over 2,000 years, producing some of the most famous diamonds. Today, India accounts for only a tiny percentage of the world’s diamond production. Today’s diamond production leaders are currently Australia, Botswana, Russia, South Africa, Zaire and Canada. Before being transformed into a beautiful piece of jewelry, the diamond must undergo several stages.

STAGE 1 - MINING

The diamonds that made it to the surface were forced up volcanically, through kimberlite pipes. A typical pipe mine consists of a large vertical shaft with tunnels running from the main pipe. The deepest mine runs about 3,500 feet down into the earth. More than 200 tons of rock, gravel and sand need to be blasted, crushed and processed to yield just one carat of gem quality diamonds. Finding diamonds and getting them out of the ground may require the use of jet engines to thaw the frozen ground or to endure the sweltering desert heat. Only about 20% of all rough diamonds are suitable for polishing; the rest are used for industrial purposes. Once the rough is found the diamond’s journey begins.

STAGE 2 - ROUGH REACHES THE MARKET

A large proportion of the world’s rough supply finds its way to De Beers’ Central Selling Organization (CSO). The rough the CSO buys is sorted into more than 5,000 different categories. Once the rough is sorted and priced, it is sold to manufacturers at sights. There are ten sights a year, each lasting a week. The chosen few afforded the chance to purchase at these sights are called sight holders. The balance of the world’s rough supply is sold to private buyers, and some through private auctions.

STAGE 3 - MANUFACTURING THE DIAMOND

Regardless of the source, all rough eventually finds its way to the cutting centers. Today, the major cutting centers are Antwerp, Israel, Bombay, Johannesburg, and New York. Upon reaching its destination the rough is carefully examined to decide how it should be cut to yield the greatest value. After the stone’s shape and size are determined, taking into consideration the rough’s shape, as well as the number and position of its internal inclusions, the stone is marked and usually sawed or cleaved.

The stone then goes through a series of cutters who each have their own specialty. Finally the diamond is polished and ready for sale.

STAGE 4 - THE FINAL JOURNEY

After a diamond is manufactured it needs to be sold. For decades diamond manufacturers have sold their cut diamonds to jewelry manufacturers and diamond wholesalers who in turn, sell to jewelry wholesalers and to retail jewelry stores. Today’s technology is changing the diamond pipeline. Diamond manufacturers now have a direct link to the final customer.

People often wonder how a particular piece of diamond jewelry is assigned a price tag. The use of different types of gold or platinum for the setting, the quality of the diamond, and many more factors come into play. To determine the price, a company may be called in to appraise the diamond’s properties: its weight, clarity, cut and color. When the results are finalized with the assessment of the diamond, it is then bought by a diamond dealer who will try to sell it to a professional jeweler who will in turn to sell it retail to the consumer.

If a consumer would like to get an assessment or certification for a diamond, the GIA, which is the Gemological Institute of America would be a good place to get the work done. It is considered more accurate than a jeweler. After the results, the consumer can try to read a diamond cutter’s guide to try to interpret the results. It is not advisable to try the Diamond Calculators on the Internet, as they are not considered accurate. Remember that the Diamond Grading Report is considered the main resource for the serious shopper.

In sum, we can see that diamonds probably will never lose their attraction and significance in all cultures. Today, they signify true love, hope, and promise for those seeking engagement or wedding rings. It is often a romantic and intimate occasion for couples to go shopping for rings. Luckily, there are a broad array of diamond rings suitable for many budgets. And it is a very personal choice in the selection of the diamond ring; after all, diamonds last a very long time!

Diamonds have been the focus of attention for artists, writers, religions, and people in general for almost all cultures for years because they represent status, beauty, perfection and wealth. There have been people who commited murder or will endure a great deal of trouble to steal diamonds. And there are people who will spend a great deal of money to get that perfect piece of diamond jewelry.

Diamonds are especially significant for many women especially as they represent status, beauty, and class for the wearer. Owners of the larger diamonds are held in high regard by admirers, as these people are perceived as special and high status. In addition, various religions have recognized the symbolic beauty of the diamond and its extraordinary physical properties. But diamonds have a religious-mystical quality in various religions, such as the Diamond Sutra in Tibetan Buddhism is one of the most beloved texts. The devotional statues of Hindu gods had diamond eyes, as diamonds were thought to be treasured gifts from the gods. The ancient Greeks also associated diamonds with the tears of their gods. In fact, the name “diamond” comes from the ancient Greek word, adamas which means invincible, because diamonds have indestructable qualities.

Diamonds also can be used as tough, abrasive tools as well as set in a stunning piece of diamond jewelry by craftspersons and jewelry designers. The reason why diamonds are so unique as they are one of the two main forms of carbon (along with graphite) they can only be scratched by other diamonds, they are a dynamic conductor of heat, and they are excellent cutting tools that are used in various industries.The solid durability and the ability of diamonds to to reflect light are qualities which make them useful for industry and for a beautiful piece of jewelry. It takes over two tons of mined ore to find a quality diamond that can be used for a good piece of jewelry, so diamonds are certainly unique and special.

A mined diamond is taken to a diamond cutter in order to be cut and shaped into a round shape to be prepared to be sold for jewelry. The cutter attempts to cut the diamond to show the reflecting light from the various facets of the cut stone. The reflecting light, or the fire, is the most important attraction of a beautifully cut diamond. Diamond cutters treat diamond cutting as an art, because the light relecting from the diamond must be cut in such a way that is attractive as possible. The job is finished when it is polished.

Over the years, there have been many well-known diamonds that have been found and named after the owners, people, or places. These diamonds are usually quite large and have a great deal of value attached to them. In addition, they have no “name brand” as an authentic diamond is a product of nature not anything manufactured. The value of the diamond is not based on where the diamond was mined: it could be in India, Russia, Africa, Canada, Australia, and other countries. Diamonds can be formed from the magma from volcanic eruptions, plates of the earth crashing together, and even more rarely from glaciers.
